The Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is providing public notice of its Section 401 Water Quality Certification decision related to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 permit application submitted by the General Services Administration for the renovation and expansion of the Grand Portage Land Port of Entry.
The proposed project is located within the exterior boundaries of the Grand Portage Reservation near the U.S./Canada border. The applicant proposes to permanently discharge dredged or fill material into approximately 2.16 acres of wetland and temporarily discharge dredged or fill material into approximately 1.06 acres of wetland for modernization and expansion of the border crossing.
